Terms of Use

Version 2026-10-20

On this page

1. About these Terms

These Terms are an agreement between you and Olivia Beauty LLC (“Pinfolk”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Pinfolk iPhone app and its online service, including shared-pin web pages.

After you sign in, Pinfolk shows these Terms and asks you to tap “Agree and continue”. By agreeing, or by using Pinfolk, you accept these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use Pinfolk.

Our Privacy Policy (pinfolk.app/privacy) explains what we collect, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

2. Who can use Pinfolk

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pinfolk. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you.

Pinfolk is offered in the United States.

You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple ID and your phone secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account.

3. Walking safely

Pinfolk asks you to walk to real places. You are responsible for your own safety.

  • Stay aware of traffic, terrain, weather and the people around you. Look up from your phone when you cross a street.
  • Obey local laws, park rules, posted signs and opening hours.
  • Don’t enter private property, closed areas, or anywhere you are not allowed to be. Pins point to public access points that a moderator reviewed, but places change. If a place is closed, fenced or unsafe, don’t go in.
  • Never use Pinfolk while driving.
  • Walks can be long or uneven. Choose routes and conditions that suit you.

4. Location and accuracy

Pinfolk uses your phone’s location to show pins near you and, during a walk you start, to check how far you walked and whether you arrived. A walk keeps recording while your screen is locked, until you tap End or pause the walk. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.

Location readings can be wrong. GPS can drift, especially near tall buildings, under trees or indoors. Pinfolk counts only readings accurate to about 35 meters toward distance. An arrival needs readings accurate to about 25 meters, with you staying within about 30 meters of the place for about 10 seconds. If you turn off Precise Location for Pinfolk, your walks may not count. Distances, arrivals, stamps and points can therefore be missed or wrong, and we may correct them.

Place details such as names, opening hours, access notes and accessibility notes may be out of date. Maps and directions are provided by Apple Maps.

5. Your content

“Your content” means what you create or send in Pinfolk: pins (titles, previews and stories), your display name and bio, collections, crews (names and descriptions), challenge titles, messages, and reports.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • Licence to Pinfolk. You give Olivia Beauty LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, format, display and distribute your content as needed to run Pinfolk. This includes showing your published pins and their stories to other walkers in the app, and showing a pin’s title and preview to anyone on shared-pin web pages and in link previews.
  • After you delete your account. Pins you published stay on the map, credited to “A Pinfolk walker” (section 13). The licence for those pins continues while they stay public. For the rest of your content, the licence ends when it is deleted, except for copies we keep as the Privacy Policy describes.
  • Your promises. You have the rights to what you post. It is accurate as far as you know, and it doesn’t break these Terms or the law.
  • Review. A moderator reviews every pin before it appears. We may refuse or remove any content.

6. Community rules: zero tolerance

Pinfolk has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We remove objectionable content, and we suspend accounts that post it or that abuse other people (section 8).

Don’t post, send or do any of the following:

  • harassment, bullying, threats, or hateful content about people based on who they are;
  • sexual content or nudity, graphic violence, or content that promotes self-harm;
  • anything illegal, or anything that encourages illegal or dangerous acts;
  • someone else’s private information, including where they live, their location or their contact details;
  • impersonation of a person or an organization;
  • spam, scams, or advertising;
  • pins at unsafe, private or restricted places, or pins that invite people onto private property;
  • faked walks or location: spoofed GPS, a vehicle, someone else’s phone, or any automation;
  • content you don’t have the rights to;
  • anything that gets around a block, a suspension or a limit, or that interferes with Pinfolk.

7. Reporting and blocking

Report anything that breaks these Terms:

  • a pin: open its story, then “More about this pin”, then “Report a concern”; or, in Around you, the card’s menu, then “Report pin”;
  • a walker: their profile, then “Report walker”;
  • a message: in Messages, the message’s menu, then “Report message”;
  • a crew: report its organizer from the organizer’s profile.

Reports go to Pinfolk’s moderators. We don’t tell the person you report who reported them.

Block a walker from their profile (“Block walker”), or a message sender from the message’s menu (“Block sender”). A block works both ways: it hides each person’s pins, profile and messages from the other, removes follows between you, and stops messages. To unblock, go to Settings, then “Blocked walkers”. Unblocking does not restore the follows.

If someone is in danger, contact local emergency services first. For other safety concerns, email support@pinfolk.app.

8. Moderation, removal and suspension

  • A moderator reviews every pin before it appears. A pin is published at least 24 hours after the walk it was left on ends.
  • We review reports and act on them.
  • We may refuse, hide or remove any content, and we may suspend any account, that breaks these Terms, at our discretion and, where the law allows, without notice.
  • A suspended account can’t post pins, edit its profile, send messages, follow, thank, share, or create or join crews. Its profile, pins and community activity are hidden from everyone. It can still report, block, and delete the account. Suspensions last until we lift them and can be permanent.
  • We may report illegal content to the authorities.

9. Messages and crews

  • Messages work only between walkers who follow each other and have both turned on “Allow mutual followers to message me”. You can send up to 20 messages a day. Moderators can read a message that is reported. In this version you can’t delete a single message; deleting your account deletes your messages for both people.
  • Any signed-in walker can join a crew, unless a block stands between them and the organizer. Organizers create the crew’s challenges. Crew members see each other’s names, avatars and walking days in the challenges. If you delete your account, a crew you created passes to another member.

10. Pinfolk is free

  • Pinfolk 1.0 is free. It has no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads.
  • Stamps, points, Exploration XP and levels are part of the game. They have no cash value. They can’t be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and we may adjust them to fix errors or abuse.

11. Privacy

The Privacy Policy (pinfolk.app/privacy) is part of how Pinfolk works. In short: Pinfolk uses your location only when you allow it, other walkers never see your route, start point or current location, and you can delete your account in the app.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using Pinfolk at any time and delete your account (section 13). We may stop offering Pinfolk, or end your access under section 8.

13. Deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app: the You tab, then Settings (the gear), then Delete account…. You confirm with Sign in with Apple and then once more. Deletion removes your profile and most of the personal data tied to it; some records are kept, some without a time limit, as the Privacy Policy explains. It also ends all your sessions and asks Apple to remove Pinfolk’s access to your Apple ID. Pins you published stay on the map, credited to “A Pinfolk walker”, with their story and point value but without your name, exact spot or walk. Walkers who collected your stories keep their stamps. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is deleted, what is kept and for how long.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms or Pinfolk. When we change the Terms in a way that matters, the app asks you to accept the new version before you continue, usually after you update the app. It doesn’t interrupt a walk to ask; if you try to post something during a walk before accepting, it asks first and keeps what you wrote. If you don’t accept, you can sign out or delete your account.
