Support

Pinfolk is a free iPhone app for walking to real public places. You collect a stamp for each place you reach, and you can leave short stories (“pins”) for other walkers.

Contact us

Email support@pinfolk.app. Tell us what happened and which screen you were on. If you can, include the app version: in the app, open the You tab, then Settings (the gear), and look under About.

If someone is in danger, call 911 or your local emergency services first. To report a safety concern about a pin, a walker or a message, use Report in the app (below) or email us.

Common questions

Who can use Pinfolk?

Pinfolk is offered in the United States, to people 13 and older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to the Terms of Use for you.

How do I sign in?

Pinfolk uses Sign in with Apple only. You can browse Nearby without an account; starting a walk asks you to sign in.

When does Pinfolk use my location?

To show pins near you, and during a walk you start. A walk keeps recording while your screen is locked, until you tap End or pause the walk, and iOS shows its location indicator while it records. Pinfolk asks for location “While Using the App” only, never “Always”. Other walkers never see your route, your start point or where you are now. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Why didn’t my walk or arrival count?

Pinfolk counts only location readings accurate to about 35 meters toward distance. An arrival needs readings accurate to about 25 meters, with you staying within about 30 meters of the place for about 10 seconds. Check that Location is allowed for Pinfolk with Precise Location on (iOS Settings, then Pinfolk, then Location). GPS can drift near tall buildings, under trees and indoors.

How do stamps work?

Each place you reach gives you its stamp. Come back on a later walk, on another day, and that stamp grows to its next stage, up to five.

Why isn’t my pin on the map yet?

A moderator reviews every pin before it appears. A pin is published at least 24 hours after the walk it was left on ends.

Can other walkers see what I find?

Only if you turn on “Show my finds in the community” in Settings. It is off until you turn it on. Your finds then appear 24 to 48 hours later, with a rough time such as “this week”.

How do messages work?

Messages are off until you turn on “Allow mutual followers to message me” in Settings. They work only between walkers who follow each other and have both turned it on. You can send up to 20 messages a day.

How do I report or block someone?

  • A pin: open its story, then “More about this pin”, then “Report a concern”; or, in Around you, the card’s menu, then “Report pin”.
  • A walker: their profile, then “Report walker” or “Block walker”.
  • A message: in Messages, the message’s menu, then “Report message” or “Block sender”.

A block works both ways: it hides each person’s pins, profile and messages from the other. To unblock, go to Settings, then “Blocked walkers”.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: the You tab, then Settings (the gear), then “Delete account…”. You confirm with Sign in with Apple, then once more. The Privacy Policy (section 6) lists exactly what is deleted and what is kept.

Pinfolk also asks Apple to remove its access to your Apple ID. If the app says it couldn’t confirm this, you can remove Pinfolk yourself: iOS Settings, then your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple.

Does Pinfolk cost anything?

No. Pinfolk 1.0 is free, with no in-app purchases, subscriptions or ads. Points, stamps and levels have no cash value.

Pinfolk is provided by Olivia Beauty LLC.
